10 of the Weirdest Pizza Toppings
10. Japanese “Mega” pizza
Only available in Japan, Pizza hut has a super pizza in Japan called the “mega” pizza. This pizza features cheese rolls, bacon, ham, sausage, mushroom, onion, garlic, tomato sauce, pepper, hamburgers with a crust made of hot dogs, bacon and melted cheese. You can top it with either ketchup or maple syrup. We’re wondering the same thing you are – do people actually eat this stuff?!
9. Fried Egg
Imagine your favorite, cheesy, gooey and saucy pizza ordained with a fresh fried egg! Yep – this pizza topping is the ‘fried egg’ topping. But at least you can get away with saying you had an egg for breakfast, when you wake up.
8. Happy Meal Pizza
If you ever wanted to have two days worth of food in a half hour, you may want to try this happy meal infused pizza. This pizza is topped with burgers, fries and chicken nuggets. All of my junky favorites – but not so favorite together.
7. Squid Ink
You might prefer white sauce or no sauce over tomato sauce, but would you prefer some squid ink instead? We didn’t think so, but it’s possible as anything goes with some pizza places. We’re guessing that this one isn’t made in America.
6. Fruit and Cream
Your immediate thought with pizza is that it’s filled with salt and definitely the opposite of sweet. But this one features fruit and crème icing. A totally healthy pizza – that’s no real pizza to me!
5. Pickle, Port and Grape
The most random combination of all for this pizza topping. Pickles and grapes are topped on this pizza and feature port wine with a type of cheese called Gorgonzola. If you’ve ever drank and ate pizza, this might be a good combo for you as it’s infused together.
4. Rice Mizza Pizza
Hailing from Korea, this isn’t your stereotypical pizza. The patty is made out of rice, with bits of curry rice on the top and a sliver of tortilla underneath.
3. Chocolate Pizza
This sounds like delicious diabetes in the making. But this one involves crust mixed with marshmallows, dark chocolate and sprinkled graham crackers…on pizza crust. We’re not so sure if that combo is appetizing or on a different spectrum from one another.
2. Cheeseburger Pizza
I’ve heard of this pizza plenty of types before but there is more than hamburger that gets put on these pizzas. Topped with ground beef, ketchup, fried onions and of course cheese with sauce, this may not be the best decision for your heart.
1. Nino’s “Luxury” Pizza
You may have had extremely expensive pizza in New York or Chicago but you haven’t had pizza this expensive. Made my Nino’s Bellissima, this pizza is topped with not one or two, but SIX types of caviar, chives, fresh lobster and crème fraiche. Of course it’s from New York City but it costs $1,000 to eat! I think I’ll stick to Netflix and Domino’s for the next 8 months instead of paying that in one sitting!
