Hunt Brothers Pizza History

Hunt Brothers Pizza’s roots can be traced all of the way back to 1962. This was when Don Hunt began his own pizza restaurant, after spending some time pizza crusts and toppings out of his station wagon. He was joined by his three brothers, who joined heads to open Pepe’s Pizza.

This restaurant proved very popular, but by the 1980s the brothers had split, moving on to create their own restaurants with the knowledge they had gained from Pepe’s Pizza. They would later join heads again to make and sell frozen pizza, before turning their attentions to convenience stores.

Their goal was to create pizza fast and to sell it cheap, and the Hunt Brothers Pizza brand was born. They were effectively wholesaling in that they were creating a product, selling it cheap and using other companies to sell it. But this unique model allowed them to cut costs, it guaranteed them a regular flow of foot traffic and it helped these four brothers turn they reason for pizza into a billion dollar empire.
