Qdoba Nutrition Basics

For the most part, Mexican food is healthy. We have covered this many times and we discussed it extensively in our Del Taco Nutrition Info guide. It is also something we have covered on most other Mexican chains.

The problem is, while the base ingredients are mostly okay, and while authentic Mexican food is very healthy, it tends to change when it crosses the border. There is less of an emphasis on fresh and more of a focus on tinned, processed and fattening. It’s less chopped more tinned; less fresh more processed.

That’s the case with many popular fast food chains and it’s something that we have grown accustomed to. However, Qdoba offers the best of both worlds. It provides a taste that is both fresh and authentic, like Abuelo’s, but one that is also adapted for American tastes, like Taco Bell and Chipotle. As a result, Qdoba nutrition is much better than what you will find at many competing restaurants, with more fresh and authentic ingredients meaning there is more fiber, more vitamins and more minerals packed into each dish that makes it onto this menu.

Qdoba Calories

To show you just how low in calories these menu items can, we’ll compare them to some other fast food chains. As an example, let’s assume that you opt for a three-course meal, beginning with a Knockout Taco and building one of their burritos before finishing with a dessert. Without drinks, this will come to just over 1,000 calories.

That’s around half your recommended daily allowance if you’re a woman and just under if you are a man. But for a three course meal, it’s not bad. Especially when you consider that for roughly the same amount of calories you would be limited to the following menu options from other popular fast food chains:

Qdoba Vegetarian Options

There are a number of vegetarian options on this menu. These are fairly easy to pick-out as there are very few hidden meat products. If the dish looks vegetarian, then it probably is. Qdoba also operates in a way that is very friendly to vegetarians. You can build burritos, tacos, salads, soups and sides by choosing your base “protein”. This can be chicken, red meat or vegetarian.

This means that vegetarians can pretty much enjoy just as many choices as meat eaters. This is a rare find on a menu that wasn’t made exclusively with vegetarians in mind and it’s why Qdoba is one of the best veggie menus we have covered here on Secret Menus.

Qdoba Vegan Options

The Qdoba menu has very few vegan options simply because many of the vegetarian options contain sour cream or cheese. However, you can simply ask for those dishes to be served without the cream or the cheese. You can also ask for the meat dishes to be served without meat or dairy. In some cases this will leave you with nothing more than a scoop of rice and some tortilla, but there are plenty of vegan extras you can add.

Qdoba Gluten-Free Options

Qdoba Nutrition InfoThere are a number of gluten-free options on the Qdoba menu. They have a sheet at the restaurant that you can request. This shows all information on allergens, including wheat, dairy, soy and more. You can see this guide here. On this guide you will also see a notice that warns against cross-contamination. This is commonplace with all major casual dining chains and fast food chains. For the most part, there isn’t anything to worry about. The contamination is often kept to a minimum, even more so if you tell them about your allergies beforehand. Really, this warning is there to cover their backs.

Still, if you have a high sensitivity then you might want to avoid this restaurant. Although if that’s the case then you may want to avoid fast food and casual dining chains altogether.
