Starbucks Careers

Starbucks is traded on the NASDAQ, the second largest stock exchange in the United States and the second largest in the world. Because of this public trading, we have a good idea of its incomings, outgoings and assets.

So, how much is Starbucks worth? Well, they have an annual income of over $3.5 billion, which is taken from revenue of nearly $20 billion and drops to a net income of around $2.75 billion. These figures were taken from a full year of trading in 2015, while the market cap in the middle of 2017 was over $86 billion.

These figures are changing all of the time, of course, but they will give you a good idea of income, and worth.

How Old to Work at Starbucks?

How Old to Work at Starbucks?

Starbucks have always been very willing to help the young, as are many fast food and quick service chains. The skeptical in us says that it has more to do with the low wages and high energy than the desire to help the next generation. As for our logical side, well, that says the same.

Still, even if they try to cut corners and costs, it still helps those generations and it also gives youngsters great opportunities. There are many foundations that Starbucks supports and you can typically get a job here at school-leaving age, which is between the ages of 16 and 18 depending on where you live.

Does Starbucks Drug Test?

Most fast food and quick service chains will not drug test their employees. It’s just not a viable option. It would cost them too much money, create too much hassle for them, and it would also reduce the number of people applying and succeeding with those applications. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you should go into work drunk or high, as there is a very good chance that you will be fired for that. But there should be no tests when you apply for the job or when you get it.

How to Get a Job at Starbucks

How to Get a Job at Starbucks?

You can find out about jobs at Starbucks by paying a visit to the Starbucks careers page. Here you can learn which jobs are available, while also getting more information about each of them. You might think that it’s all about baristas, but it’s actually much more than that. At any given time the sheer scale of this chain means that there are always hundreds of jobs available in the following positions:

  • Baristas: Serve coffee, clean tables and deal with the public. This is the most basic and least paying job at Starbucks.
  • Shift Supervisors: According to the official Starbucks site, the people in this position are tasked with ensuring that everything runs like clockwork.
  • Shift Managers: Take control of a particular shift and help employees to push themselves harder and go further.
  • Assistant Store Managers: This is a learning role more than anything else, and one that can lead to something big.
  • Store Managers: These are the basic managers who keep everything in check within a given Starbucks location.
  • District Manager: The people in this position will have millions of dollars worth of stock and assets in their control, so these jobs go to people with a wealth of experience.
  • Regional Directors: This is one of the biggest jobs you can get at Starbucks. You will be responsible for around 100 stores, which is a hell of a lot of responsibility, but knowing Starbucks, that could only account for a few blocks.

One of the best things about working with Starbucks, and indeed many other fast food chains, is that you can work from the bottom and get to the top. It sounds like something the company promises but never follows through with, but it’s true. These chains don’t want to give someone complete control if they have no experience with the brand and have never worked there before. That would create all kinds of problems.

They want people who have worked at every level, people who understand the employees under them and the brand itself. So, someone with experience working at every level within the Starbucks system is much more likely to get a job as a director then someone coming in from the outside, even if they have all of the qualifications in the world.

Does Starbucks Support Planned Parenthood?

Does Starbucks Support Planned Parenthood?

There are many companies that donate or have donated to Planned Parenthood and Starbucks is one of these. You will also find everyone from Unilever and Pfizer on that list. It is not common for fast food or quick service chains to donate to Planned Parenthood, but Starbucks are keen to buck that trend and as far as we are concerned, that’s a good thing. However, it will likely turn many coffee lovers against them.

After all, it’s not something you can really imagine McDonalds, KFC or Burger King doing, so it was a surprise move for Starbucks to take

How Much Does Starbucks Pay?

Starbucks pay quite well for such a big chain. These chains have a reputation for paying minimum wage and offering few benefits, and that applies to Starbucks locations all over the world. However, there are some good wages to be earned and some good perks to pickup here.

Obviously, it all depends on where you work and what you do, but below you will find wages for employees working in US Starbucks.

How Much Do Starbucks Baristas Make?

There are rumors that Starbucks baristas make very little and that the company are slave drivers. That’s not true. On average baristas at Starbucks make around $8.77 an hour. While not great, it’s better than you might think and it’s higher than you would get at many other large chains that hire young and have a high staff turnover rate. This is not the best of all Starbucks careers or course, but there are non-Starbucks careers that require as much work and don’t pay nearly as much money.

How Much do Starbucks Shift Supervisors Make?

You can expect to earn between $10 and $11 an hour working as a shift supervisor at Starbucks. The benefits are also better and while the responsibility is greater, you could argue that the work is less.

Who Earns the Most Money at Starbucks?

So, which Starbucks carers are the best and which Starbucks careers should you focus your attentions on the most?

The people who oversee districts and regions can expect to make a lot more money than the people who work in and/or oversee single stores. However, this data is a little harder to find, as there are far fewer people in these positions and they tend to keep their cards close to their chest.

Just know that it is considerably more than the amounts quoted above and that it’s definitely something worth working towards. If you work hard in those lower level positions then there is a very good chance you can make it to this high level within 5 years.
