The Popeyes menu doesn’t change a great deal, and the Popeyes menu prices are no different. But inflation, regional differences, and other factors can come into play. We will try to account for these changes as and when we can. But bear in mind that if you’re checking from an international location then these menu prices may not be as relevant as they otherwise would be.

We have included a full list of Popeyes chicken menu prices on this page. Our writers and editors work hard to ensure that all tables are updated on a regular basis. As a result, we can guarantee that what you’re looking at is accurate and up-to-date, regardless of when you’re reading this.

Popeyes Promotions

There are a number of Popeyes promotions to take advantage of throughout the year. These include regular ole’ coupons, as well as limited foods, limited combos and more. One of our favorite Popeyes promotions was surf and turf that bundled together fried chicken and shrimp, as well as fries and biscuits all for one low price.

There is also usually some kind of family deal on offer where you can get close to a dozen pieces of chicken, as well as biscuits, sides and drinks. Pay close attention to the Popeyes Promotions page to learn when the next combo deals and coupons become available. You should also check with their official social media pages as well as our Food Holiday pages. These are a big hit with chains like Popeyes and they usually have something to offer on relevant days.

The most relevant day for this chain and others like it is National Fried Chicken Day, which speaks for itself. You should also check in with National French Fries Day though, while taking a peek at the others.

Popeyes Founder

Al Copeland is the genius behind the Popeyes chain. Al, whose full name was Alvin Charles Copeland, lived from 1944 to 2008, founding the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen chain in the 1970s. He actually sold donuts prior to his venture into fried chicken and had also tried his hand at other businesses. Copland was an entrepreneur through and through, a man who embodied the spirit of the American Dream.

He was born in Louisiana, so he understood cajun cuisine as well as any native. Speaking of natives, he angered many people in his home town of New Orleans because of his brash, no-nonsense approach to business and to life in general. There were people who loved this aspect of his personality and it no doubt played big part in his success, but he had plenty of detractors by the time he passed away.

Popeyes vs KFC

In terms of size, Kentucky Fried Chicken is the bigger beast. Popeyes just can’t match-up. KFC has more locations in total, it has more locations in the US and it also has a large share elsewhere. In fact, there are twice as many KFC locations in China than there are Popeyes around the world. There are also nearly as many KFCs in the UK as there are Popeyes in the US.

That should give you an idea of just how dominant they have been. However, KFC have had the might of a huge multinational food company behind it for many years, while Popeyes have only just been sold to such a company. If you factor this in, as well as the fact that KFC is a lot older, then the future begins to look a little brighter for Popeyes and it could be that Popeyes begins to outgrow KFC in some countries very soon.

In terms of flavor, it is all down to preference. Popeyes have more southern flavor and a menu that is closer to the cajun style, whereas KFC is more international. This is why Popeyes is so popular in the southern United States, but it’s why KFC has done so well overseas. Menu changes can be made to adapt to international tastes though. McDonald’s have done it, Burger King have done it, and Popeyes will need to do it if they are to outgrow their rival any time soon.

Popeyes Undercover Boss

Popeyes featured on the show Undercover Boss back in 2012, giving customers, potential employees and even potential franchisees a unique insight into the chain. This show creates a fake persona for a member of the board room and invites them to work in their own stores without the employees knowing who they are. It’s usually the CEO or owner who is tasked with this job, but for Popeyes it was the Chief Talent Officer Lynne Zappone.

Generally, the chain impressed and there were a lot of positives, but that’s how this show is arranged. They give scholarships and holidays; they pay for medical treatment and they just outright give people cash. All of this is in an effort to make the chain look good to the general public, while humanizing the board members.

Popeyes appeared on Undercover Boss when the show was firmly in its charitable/dramatic stage, so we didn’t really get a true insight into how they operated. If you want to see some real behind the scenes activity in real US businesses, then watch the earlier seasons. You can also watch some international versions of this show, where they are a little more genuine and not just geared towards making the chain they feature look good.
