Smoothie King Prices vs Jamba Juice

Smoothie King Menu

There is one chain that more closely resembles Smoothie King than any other, and that’s Jamba Juice. The products that they offer are very similar, but how do they compare on the price front?

On average, Smoothie King menu prices are a little steeper, but not by a great deal. On average you pay between $5 and $5.50 for a small, and anywhere from $7 to $9 for a large. On Jamba Juice, the average price for a small is between $4.50 and $4.80, and the large is around $6.

However, the measurements are not quite the same. On Smoothie King the size are 20 ounces, 32 ounces and 40 ounces. on Jamba Juice, they are 16 ounces, 24 ounces and 32 ounces. Once you factor this into the equation, the prices look a little more even.

For instance, SK’s Acai Adventure costs $6.99 for the 32 ounce, while a similar drink from JJ, the Orange C-Booster costs $6.89 for the 32 ounce.

Smoothie King Favorites

Smoothie King Calories

We love the Smoothie King menu and are big fans of many of their drinks. Like any menu, these aren’t all great. Some of them just don’t work for our taste buds. And of course, the lack of sugars, fats and other nasty but nice ingredients means there are more menu items we don’t like here than there are at Dairy Queen or Cold Stone Creamery.

But here is a list of the ones that stand out the most for us, the ones that we can’t get enough of and the ones we recommend:

  • Island Impact: This is a great way to start the day or to perk yourself up. It’s sweet, it’s fruity and it has a big citrus kick. It is loaded with vitamins such as Vitamin C, which is great for the immune system. It contains the following: Pineapple, Mango Sorbet, Mango Juice Blend, Papaya Juice Blend, Vanilla Protein Blend.
  • Caribbean Way: Get all of the flavors of the Caribbean with this immune system boosting drink. It is loaded with feel-food vitamins and minerals and contains the following: Strawberries, Bananas, Papaya Juice Blend, Turbinado.
  • The Shredder – Chocolate: We love The Shredder, and while all flavors are good, the chocolate one wins our vote. This is a probiotic, which means it is great for the gut. Once you have a healthy gut then you’re good everywhere else. It contains: Cocoa, Gladiator Protein, Protein Blend, Diet Down Enhancer, Vanilla flavor, natural flavors.
  • Muscle Punch: A great post-workout shake, this one comes packed with 10 grams of protein if you order the 40 ounce. Not a huge number, but what it lacks in extra protein it makes up for in extra minerals and vitamins. This drink contains Strawberries, Bananas, Turbinado, Nonfat Milk, Super Grains and Whey Protein.

Smoothie King Recipes

You can make your own Smoothie King drinks at home. They rely on people choosing them for convenience, because they are too busy with their lives to spend time shopping for ingredients and to keep fresh fruit and vegetables on hand. That’s the sort of convenience that we all need. But if you have a little time and patience, then there is nothing stopping you from preparing fresh batches.

If you prepare these in advance, you can even keep them for a few days in the fridge. It may also be possible to freeze them. Here are some tips for making your own Smoothie King smoothies:

  • Buy Frozen Fruit: It can be expensive to keep fresh fruit on hand. But most of it is easily to freeze and defrost, including berries. You can buy frozen bags of berries and toss a handful into a mixture every now and then.
  • Buy Bananas: There is a reason bananas are so widely used in smoothies. Many reasons, actually. The are great base for carrying other flavors. They are loaded with potassium and other vitamins/minerals. They are cheap and they also add some texture. You can add them to any drink.
  • Unflavored Whey: The protein in these smoothies comes from whey. Get the unflavored type and add scoops here and there to bulk up the protein amount. It is very cheap and very easy to add. If you’re vegan or have a sensitivity to dairy, then you can also use pea protein, nut protein and other powdered proteins.
  • Seeds and Nuts: Chia seeds and flax seeds are a great way to get extra protein and healthy oils. They contain essential fatty acids and you just need a small amount per smoothie to benefit. They also keep for long periods so you can put them in a jar and add pinches/handfuls every now and then. The same goes for nuts, but try to use almonds. Not only are they fairly cheap, but they don’t have as strong of a flavor as peanuts, so they will work with most recipes.
  • Vitamins: Where you can, try to get vitamins from fruit and vegetables. Avoid the temptation to just throw a multi-vitamin in there. It doesn’t work the same and more and more studies are beginning to suggest that multi-vitamins might actually do more harm than good.
  • Vegetables: Don’t stick with fruit. You should try to get some veg in there as well. Use things like wheatgrass and kale in small quantities, adding texture, vitamins and minerals, but not overpowering the drink. You can be a little more generous with carrots, tomatoes and other fruits that are high in sugar.
  • Juice: You want to balance the watery ingredients with the dry ones. You want fibre, so thick pulp is good, but if you overdo this then you will need to add watery fruits in afterwards. So, if you have a particularly viscous mixture from too many unripened mangoes, bananas and seeds, then get some melon or orange in there. And don’t be afraid to add some fruit juices to your mix, just make sure it’s not from concentrate.
  • Tips: Not only can you freeze ingredients, but you can freeze the mixture itself. You should also avoid the temptation to sieve out the pulp. This is fibre and is good for you. If it’s too watery, add something to soak it up like seeds, pulpy fruit or veg. If it’s too thick, go the other way. Also, don’t be afraid to experiment. You’ll make some nasty concoctions, but you’ll also create some great ones from time to time.

Smoothie King Coupons

Smoothie King Calories

There are many great Smoothie King coupons out there. However, most are either invalid or have expired. So, rather than hunting through the coupon sites, checkout Smoothie King on social media. They use these pages to announce all kinds of offers, both locally and across the brand.

Food holidays are usually a great time to get deals, but that doesn’t really apply to Smoothie King as there aren’t many relevant holidays. However, they do have seasonal offers in time for Easter, Christmas and more. Checkout our article on Restaurants Open on US Holidays to learn more about this and to see if you can spot Smoothie King on that list.

Smoothie King Franchise

Smoothie King has been a roaring success. In a short space of time it has earned the status as one of the best smoothie chains in the world. It has grown at a pace greater than many other chains, including some chains-of-the-moment like Jimmy John’s and Papa John’s. They have also proved way more successful than many former greats such as Quiznos, a brand that has gone backwards over the last few years.

To get your own Smoothie King franchise, just visit the Smoothie King franchise page. Here you will find more information about the chain, uncovering the reasons you should signup and learning about price, stock, potential sales growth and more. This is a national brand with the potential to be so much more, and that makes this a great time to get onboard and to become part of something that could be very big.
