Whataburger® Menu Prices (Coupons, Franchises)

whataburger-menu-pricesComparable to the menus of most fast food burger joints, the Whataburger menu sells a diverse selection of burgers, sandwiches, drinks, frozen treats and more. The prices at a Whataburger are typically slightly higher than a McDonald’s or Wendy’s, but the quality of food is also higher. To find your favorite entrée to see for yourself, just scroll down and peer through everything else the Whataburger full menu has to offer.

Whataburger has preached quality over speed for decades, and their business’ success is a testament to the efficacy of that model. Some of their longstanding favorites include the Whataburger, Whataburger Patty Melt, and the Chop House Cheddar Burger. A hefty portion, the A.1. Thick & Hearty Burger is a great fan favorite for those with a big appetite.

Whataburger Patty Melt

The Whataburger Patty Melt is one of the many original and unique dishes on the Whataburger menu. It is like a burger and a grilled cheese sandwich rolled into one. It combines two patties of beef, grilled onions, jack cheese and their creamy pepper sauce. All of this is stuffed between two thick slices of bread and makes for a great alternative to a burger.

What’s Makes Whataburger Ketchup so Delicious?

Whataburger ketchup has been a big hit with customers of this fast food chain. This is one of those sauces that people obsess over and try and grab as much of the free samples as they can. But with Whataburger ketchup you don’t need to focus on those free samples as you can buy the bottles of Whataburger ketchup from the main store.

This ketchup is a simple base of tomato paste with plenty of corn syrup for sweetness, vinegar to give it a kick, and spices like garlic powder and onion powder. These are common in many blends of ketchup, but the Spicy Ketchup from Whataburger also includes a hit of jalapeño pepper.

Whataburger Coupons

There are not many great Whataburger coupons out there, unfortunately. They do release these, but in many cases we find that they are just not good enough. They often relate only to items bought from the Whataburger store, such as hats and t-shirts. Basically, they are the items that nobody really wants anyway, so they are usually available at a discount.

There are some Whataburger coupons relating to food, but very few of these are widely available. The best ones of these are available during Food Holidays like National Cheeseburger Day, where all burger chains get involved and start offering some form of promotion in order to draw these cheeseburger lovers in. You can also find some Whataburger coupons during National French Fries Day, which works in a similar way and is just as popular.

Whataburger Franchise

A Whataburger franchise is not that easy to get. There are only 25 franchisees of this brand and they all help to manage the more than 800 Whataburger locations. You can still apply to open your own Whataburger franchise though. You’ll need at least $1.2 million to even be considered for this, but there is much more to it than that.

You need the assets, you need the experience and you need the upfront fees as well. You also need to prove to them that a Whataburger location is indeed in the region that you want to focus on. There is a lot that you need to do, a lot that you need to pay and a lot of hard work involved.

Whataburger and What-a-Burger

There are a few major coincidences in business and in pop culture. These include Pepsi and Coke, two incredibly similar products that sprang up around the same time and seemingly independent of on another. The same happened to Dennis the Menace, a character that existed (in slightly different forms) on both sides of the Atlantic without either creator knowing about the other one.

One such coincidence exists in this sector as well and it concerns the North Carolina restaurant What-A-Burger. This was founded in the same year as the Texas based Whataburger, but the two restaurants had no idea that the other one existed considering they existed several states apart.

It wasn’t until 1970 that they realized and entered into correspondence concerning the issue. Several decades later, in 2002, the two companies actually sued each other over alleged copyright infringement. In 2004 the courts decided that the What-A-Burger brand in NC did not have any impact on the Whataburger trademark and that no genuine confusion would be likely.

The brands of both stores remained unaffected as an impact of this lawsuit.

Who Owns Whataburger?

Whataburger is owned by the Dobson family, relatives of one of the restaurant’s founders. It is also owned by 25 franchisees, who control a number of Whataburger locations across Texas and further afield.

This family is well known through the Lone Star State and their restaurant chain has even been officially recognized as a Texas treasure. Texans take their heritage very seriously and they take great pride in all things Texas, so it’s fair to say that this is a pretty big honor for the family and for all of those franchisees.

Where was the First Whataburger?

The first of many Whataburger locations was founded in Corpus Christi, Texas, back in 1950. Harmon Dobson and Paul Burton were behind the chain. Dobson had this to say about the founding of the restaurant and the reason they named it Whataburger: “[I wanted to make] a better burger that took two hands to hold and tasted so good that when you took a bite you would say ‘What a burger!’”

Many more Whataburger locations began to sprout up on the Texas landscape in the decades that followed. In fact, it took just a year before they opened their second restaurant and many more soon followed. By the 1970s they had opened their 100th store and more Whataburger locations were in the pipeline. The 300 milestone came in 1980 and by 2000 they had edged past 550.

Between then and now growth has continued. This growth has been at a somewhat leisurely pace when compared to many of their national and global competitors, but they are one of the most dominant regional chains in the country.

This menu has a lot of similarities to the Burger King menu prices and the McDonalds breakfast menu in many ways. If you’re a Whataburger fanatic, you will enjoy the hidden menu items found below.
