Five Guys Gluten Free

There aren’t a lot of gluten free options on the Five Guys menu. However, there are a few surprise options and you can generally enjoy a good meal at Five Guys even if you are on a gluten free diet. You can’t eat the bun of course, and this rules out burgers and hot dogs, but there is a lot more to enjoy. As with vegan and vegetarian options at Five Guys, there is an issue with cross contamination and if you are a celiac then this is not something you can risk.

In all cases you should let them know about your sensitive to gluten as that way they can do all they can to avoid any contamination. It is still not 100% reliable though and you should probably avoid Five Guys if you have a serious tolerance and can’t consume even a trace amount of gluten.

Five Guys Halal

As Five Guys branched out into many parts of the UK the question was asked: is Five Guys halal? Unfortunately for those who follow the Muslim religion, it doesn’t seem to be the case. It will likely be a different story for Five Guys locations in the Middle-East and other predominantly muslim regions, but in the UK it doesn’t look like they have made that jump.

There are many reasons for that, including the fact that turning all of their products halal would likely offend many non-halal eaters who consider it a form of animal abuse, and because it’s a logistics nightmare for them to turn a small portion of their meats halal while leaving the rest untouched.

Five Guys Hamburgers Calories

If you opt for a Five Guys hamburger then you can expect a base of over 400 calories, and that’s before you add any toppings and get any sides. There are a lot of calories in most of their foods. However, there is usually a reason for this. With the burgers, it’s just because they tend to be bigger and meatier than what you might get at a place like Sonic. With the fries, it’s because they are fried in peanut oil, which adds a nutty taste that will make you want more.

On a different note, the bacon comes in at less than 85 calories per serving, so you can load up on everyone’s favorite salty treat to create your perfect burger. You can work out the total calorific cost of your burger with our Five Guys Nutrition tables.

Five Guys Hot Dogs Calories

five-guys-calories-facts
The hot dog bun has the most calories of any of their buns, so you don’t get off to a great start. The hot dog itself also has more calories than the beef burger patty, which might come as a surprise. Because of this, you’re getting around 500 calories before you even add the toppings.

Don’t worry though, as there aren’t many calories in mustard and ketchup, and this is one beefy and mighty hotdog, a far cry from the weedy and suspect things you will find on street kiosks. Just check the toppings on our Five Guys Nutrition tables to run your sums and see it all come together.

Five Guys Fries

Five Guys has received a lot of flak for its high calorie and high fat food. You can see just how bad this is on our Five Guys Nutrition tables, which can be found throughout this Five Guys Nutrition Info page. They are bad, it’s true. But we think it’s all about moderation and making the right choice. However, to give you an idea of just how bad they are, let’s take a look at the Five Guys fries.

There are over 1,300 calories in the largest fries. From this you’re getting over 1,3 grams of sodium, 10 grams of saturated fat, and nearly 60 grams of fat. Let’s be honest, none of that is good. It’s all empty calories and if you get those fries as part of your meal, then even if the rest of your meal is a giant lettuce with a helping of kale, it’s still incredibly unhealthy.

You should instead focus on the Five Guys Little Fries. There are still empty calories here, but you’re only getting around 530 of them and you’re also getting much less sodium and fat. In all cases you’re better off skipping on the fries altogether, but if you can’t resist them then order the Five Guys Little fries and don’t think that you have to scoff every last one of them.

Five Guys Milkshakes Calories

The Five Guys milkshakes pack a hell of a lot of calories, as you probably expected. It’s milk, it’s cream, it’s sugar—it’s everything that’s bad for you. The base amount for a Five Guys Milkshake is 870 calories. That’s before you add anything else, and as you can see from our Five Guys Nutrition Info tables on this page, once you add whipped cream, syrup, cookies and fruit toppings, then it’s very easy for those to go beyond 1,000 calories.

Five Guys Toppings

The Five Guys menu is fairly simple. You have the meat, the buns, the sides and the toppings. This is the bulk of the menu and it’s this simplicity that has served them so well over the years.

As for the toppings, there are many of these to choose from and this is one area in which they don’t keep things basic. You can opt for a splash of A1 Sauce, which has 15 calories per serving; a slice of cheese, which has 70 calories; or hot sauce, which has negligible calories. Some of the other good low-calorie choices for Five Guys toppings include lettuce, which has just 4 calories per serving; pickles, which have just 3; and mustard, which has a trace amount.

The biggest offender is mayo, which has 100 calories per serving, as well as sugar-laden ketchup and BBQ sauce. Generally, if you stick with the fresh veg and the sauces that are heavy on vinegar as opposed to fat and sugar, then you’re good.
