It’s not too difficult to find the healthy options on the Tim Hortons menu. There are hearty vegetable soups, healthy sandwiches (such as the Veggie Sandwich, which is discussed on the Tim Hortons secret menu). Just be sure to watch out for hidden calories and sugars with the following menu items:

Coffee: Normal coffee is fine. And without sugar and cream, it’s very low in calories. Coffee may even be good for you, as it has been proved to reduce blood pressure and lower the risk of many diseases. However, drinks like the Iced Capp, and other hot/cold milky drinks, can be loaded with a deceptively large amount of sugar.

Salad: There is nothing wrong with a little lettuce and some vegetables. But Caesar Salad is not just a little lettuce and some vegetables. The sauces used are often very fattening, loaded with saturated fat, salt and sugar, and the Tim Hortons Caesar Salad is no different. The same applies for other salad options, which is why you should study the nutrient info first and not just assume that because it’s a salad, it’s healthy.

Yoghurt: This dairy snack is healthy and can make for a great breakfast. But yoghurt is often loaded with sugar, and that’s even before you factor in the toppings. So, make sure you keep an eye on that all-important sugar content.

Don’t worry though, as there are alternatives for whatever special diet you’re on. These are displayed clearly on the Tim Hortons menu, but here is a quick rundown to give you an idea:


If you can’t eat cheese, yoghurt or butter, then most of the Tim Hortons menu is a no-go area for you. However are simple teas and coffees to enjoy, ones that do not come loaded with dairy. There are also vegan-friendly dairy alternatives, including soy milk. More and more people are turning away from meat and dairy and the restaurants are doing all they can to accommodate those changes. And as usual, the biggest chains are always at the forefront of that shift.


As well as the vegetarian sandwich, there are plenty of non-vegetable options if you don’t eat meat.
